Two years ago, there was a large gathering. It was a organized by Kristina and James Kirkwood. They invited everyone they knew or had ever known. This was not as casual a gathering as it seemed. You see, their daughter, Jessie, had just had a baby. A beautiful baby girl named Julia. She and the father of the child, Cody Williams, were still seeing each other and Jessie, unknown to her parents, was pregnant again. James and Kristina had organized this party to get their minds off the fact that they were already grandparents.
But something happened. Suddenly Jessie was urging her friends to come outside with her and bring their things. Almost twenty people, accompanied her to the park across the road, including her boyfriend, her cousins and her brother. She clutched her daughter tightly, as if nervous. Then the building blew up. Somehow she had known it was going to happen.
They were all stunned. Everyone they knew was dead, except for the few people that stood around them. They did not want to get seperated, so after getting some cars and their stuff, they drove to a place they thought the police would not find them. A cottage, a large cottage, on the Severn River. There they lived, learned to sing and play intruments. They prepared a song, not written by them but one they felt described how they were now:
Welcome to our family time
There's nothing complicated about the way we live
We're all here for each other
Happy to give
All we have we share and all of us we care
So come on
Welcome to our family time
Welcome to our happy to be time
This is a festival you know it best of all
We're here to share it all
There's a bond between us nobody can explain
It's celebration of life
We see friends again
I'll be there for you
I know you'll be there for me too
So come on
Welcome to our family
Welcome to our happy to be time
This is a festival you know it best of all
We're here to share it all
Remembering love once departed
Someone dear to your heart
Finding love, plenty of future
Telling stories and laughing with friends
Precious moments you'll never forget
This has to be the most beautiful,
the most peaceful place
I've ever been too
Its nothing like I've ever seen before
Welcome to our family time
Welcome to our happy to be time
We're happy, giving and taking, to the friends we're making
There's nothing we won't do
Welcome to our family time
Welcome to our happy to be time
This is a festival you know it best of all
We're here to share it all
This is a festival and you know it
Best of all, we're here to share it all
Best of all, we're here to share it all
Welcome to our family
When the police did eventually find them, they sang this song, among others. The authorities were so moved they let them stay and even gave them money.
But they wanted to share this place with others, so they made a sign and put out some ads. They were proud when they hung the sign over the door. It simply said, "Welcome".
So, WELCOME to...
...EVERYTHING AND ANYTHING YOU WANT...
...WELCOME...
